Starlight

  1. This sounds like a great research tool. Being able to visualize the size of a project prior to committing a lot or resources to it can save valuable time/money. The visualization can also help with possible road blocks or bottle necks in the project. I wonder what data bases it accesses and who will be given access? It looks like only government levels right now.

  2. This is a great way for people to do research. Joe is right, it does look like government access only. I think Starlight is a great product for many big companies. It sounds like it will make the research process quick and easy. The 3D visualization is nice, some people are better visually and this can really help.

  3. This looks like fun, do we have access to any of this or will we at one point?? I learn better visually with some things and this would be a great help with certain things.

  4. This is an interesting post. I like that this is a technology that shrinks multitudes of data to better analyze it. I think this is a excellent representation of your post. It also pulls in every aspect of this course, art science and society.

  5. This is a good way to visualize data. Seeing a 3-D item in 3-D is a better way to look at it. It is a versitile creation. It makes things simpler to see. The use of bookmarking is a good idea. It could be used for a great number of things.

  6. WOW! this is some interesting stuff. With talks about Going Green it is important to have as much technology as possible so we can stop using fossile fuels and start using other things to move our cars and heat our homes.

  7. WoW! This is extremely intense. Technology is extremely crazy. There is definately an overload of information though and i think this system could really help the right people come up with some even more intense ideas.

  8. That video was really interesting! Its amazing what technology can do for us, imaging seeing this video back in the 50's or 60's! Is any of this available to us as everyday people?

  12. The leaps we take in technology can only go as far as the tools we can produce to make it. Technology has advanced so much that you get almost numb hearing about these kinds of amazing things.

  16. Not to be mean but now boring information can complied in a more uniformly, boring way. Hooray! I’m can’t see the application of this in my everyday life. Temporary and geospatial relationships? Of what my cereal boxes? I realize I’m not the brightest bulb in the bunch but this is very confusing to me.

  18. This data mining tool has many uses. I can see careers in this new technology - using it and developing it. For intelligence gathering it could be the key to disrupting terror plots by making data point connections which otherwise may not be apparent to an analyst.
