Nanotech Advancement

The article Big Step in Tiny Technology from August 27, 2008, explains Scottish researcher's from the University of St. Andrews new advancement in nanotechnology. Basically, they have found a better way to arrange molecules that has great benefits when working on such a small scale (about 1/10,000 the diameter of a human hair with this technology). This new area of technology is still in the beginning stages, but Dr. Manfred Buck, of the University's School of Chemistry explains that this technology may be useful in the development of "nanomachines", which are "molecular devices used to transport and manipulate molecules and nanometer sized objects."

  1. Nanotechnology is definitely the latest big thing in technology now and days. I cannot wait to see what the outcomes are going to be when things like this are finished!

  2. I remember playing futuristic video games about nanotechnology and ways to enhance the human reflexes, senses, and strengths, similar to the characters in the television hit Heroes. Nanomachines sound cool, and they are sued to manipulate nano molecules. well hey i guess they need to create a way to help assist with their new discovery and capabilities. Hopefully these advancements can be seen within my lifetime and implemented into our everyday lievs in some way. Same with stem cell research!

  3. When you consider nanotechnologies like these in conjunction with all of the other advancements in technology we've talked about this semester, it is mind boggling where we are heading as a society. These advancements have the potential to advance humanity like no other time.
